BIRDWATCHING

Your private balcony at Selva Vista doubles as a bird-watching deck. The region’s rich ecosystems attract hundreds of species, from bright tanagers to the famous Andean motmot.

Commonly sighted species include Andean Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupicola peruvianus), Blue-gray Tanager (Thraupis episcopus), Golden-fronted Whitestart (Myioborus ornatus), Rufous-collared Sparrow (Zonotrichia capensis) and Emerald Toucanet (Aulacorhynchus prasinus).

A scenic 90-minute drive from Selva Vista, the Cocora Valley is home to Colombia’s national tree, the Quindío wax palm, the world’s tallest palm species. NATURAL PARK

For adventure-seekers, Los Nevados National Park offers high-Andean landscapes, glacier peaks, and páramo ecosystems found nowhere else on earth. Guided hikes can be arranged through our concierge, ranging from gentle nature walks to full-day treks near Nevado del Ruiz volcano.
